Board of Management & Structure
In 1990, the trustees set up a Board of Management to manage the school. The Board comprises four members nominated by the trustees, two nominated by the parents and two nominated by the teachers. The current Chairperson of the Board is Mr. Ferdia Kelly, himself a past-pupil of St. Declan’s. The Board’s term of office is for three years.
The Board’s role is to undertake responsibility for the conduct, management and financial administration of the school in accordance with the ethos outlined by the trustees and under their general supervision and control.
The school has a Principal, a Deputy Principal, eight Assistant Principals and thirteen teachers with special management positions. Some of these positions are administrative. The main pastoral roles are as follows:
- Dean: First and Second Years
- Dean: Third Years
- Dean: Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Years
- Dean: Attendance and Punctuality
Each year has its Year Head. The Year Head has over-all responsibility for monitoring the progress and welfare of each student in the year.
The Year Head works closely with the Form Tutors in each class in the year.
The Form Tutors are the primary link between parents and the school. They communicate with parents through the homework journal and are available to meet parents by appointment.
