Role of Parents
The role of parents in the education of their children is a major element in the Education Act of 1998.
St. Declan’s has had a Parents’ Council for many years and it plays a significant role in the life of the school. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend the monthly meetings of the Council, as the most effective way of keeping themselves informed of developments in education generally and in the school in particular and as a means of participating in the decision making processes of the school.
Parents are consulted on such matters as the school’s Code of Conduct, policies on bullying and many other aspects of school life.
Every three years, the Parents’ Council organises the election by the parents of 2 nominees to the Board of Management.
