Brother at your Side

Cross Country News

The second cross country of the school year was the ‘Brother at Your Side’ cross country race in Santry Demense. Our athletes braved the cold and windy weather conditions to represent St Declan’s in the minor, junior and senior races.

The minor boys were very successful in their race. Oisín Gavin came a very close 4th in the race and the minor team came 3rd place overall in the race. All runners on the minor team received bronze medals for their achievement.

Next up was the junior race. Again, all of our athletes did very well. Oliver Hopkins came in 1st place and he received a trophy. This is an amazing achievement. Well done Oliver!

The final race of the day was the gruelling 4,500m senior race. The calibre of the athletes in this race was impressive. All of our athletes did an amazing job and they should be very proud of themselves. A special mention to Seán Donoghue who placed extremely well in the race.

Well done to all who ran on the day! It was another great day of athletics for St Declan’s. The success is a credit to the hard work and discipline of our athletes and the work they put in with their running clubs and coaches – Celtic Running Club and Donore Harriers.
