Catholic Schools Week is a time when educational institutions worldwide come together to celebrate the values, teachings, and sense of community that Catholic education instills.
In 2024, St. Declan's College embraced this tradition with fervor, creating a memorable week of spiritual reflection, artistic expression, and special guests.
One of the highlights of the week was the daily prayers for the community. Led by members of the student council, these prayers resonated through the school via the intercom, fostering a collective sense of spirituality among students, teachers, and staff. Each day brought forth a prayer, touching on themes of gratitude, compassion, and unity, reinforcing the school's commitment to nurturing both academic and spiritual growth.
Adding a visual dimension to the celebration, students at St. Declan's engaged in poster work. The central corridor in the A block had a display prepared by 1st years showcasing the creativity and devotion of the student body. The posters depicted inspirational quotes, biblical verses, and artwork reflecting the school's values, serving as a constant reminder of the community's shared beliefs.
In a gesture that bridged the past with the present, St. Declan's College welcomed a visit from Br Pat from the Christian Brothers residence. He shared insights, stories, and wisdom with the students and the boys had many interesting questions. These interactions provided a unique opportunity for the students to connect with the broader Catholic community, fostering a sense of continuity and tradition within the school.
The week's activities emphasized the importance of community, service, and education in the Catholic school setting.
