Leaving Certificate Updates 26 March 2021

Out-of-School Subjects and Out-of-School Learners

Initial Information Form

Important, out-of-school learners and students studying subjects entirely outside of school must complete the Initial Information Form and submit it by Thursday, 15 April.

In order to access Accredited Grades in Leaving Certificate 2021;

  • Students studying subjects entirely out-of-school are required to provide certain information to their school principal as soon as possible.
  • Out-of-school learners are also required to provide certain information to the principal of their host school/centre as soon as possible. [Out-of-school learners must find a host school or host centre of learning, recognised by the SEC for the purpose of holding examinations. The host school/centre will be the school, or centre of learning, where you have arranged to sit the written examinations in June.]

To facilitate the sharing of information, both students studying subjects out-of-school and out-of-school learners will need to complete the Initial Information Form which can be downloaded here >>>>>Out-of-school subjects Information Form.pdf

The Initial Information Form should be submitted in hard copy, or electronically, to Mr Avery no later than Thursday 15 April .

Entry of candidates for oral interviews

  • Candidates who have not registered on the Candidate Self-Service portal, or who registered on the portal but did not complete their selection of subjects and levels, can present for the oral interview.
  • Candidates who had opted out of the written examinations and selected accredited grades only, and who now want to opt back in to sit the written examinations, will be facilitated by schools in undertaking their oral interview(s) as long as the oral interview takes place within the original time window (26 March to 15 April).
  • When the portal reopens at end April/early May, candidates can update their choices to reflect their participation in the orals. (Note they will not be able to add new subjects).
  • Extensions for oral interviews are only available to candidates who are unable to attend due to illness an on the provision of medical certification.

If you hadn't previously opted to sit an oral examination and now wish to do so please contact me by email as soon as possible.
