Reopening of Schools Autumn 2020

As announced by the Minister for Education, Norma Foley, on Monday evening the Department of Education in conjunction with the education partners is planning for a full reopening of schools and return of all students this August as normal. The Minister launched a roadmap of how the department envisages the reopening to take place. As you can imagine to do this under the current health situation with Covid-19 will be a mammoth task and needs careful planning. I am attaching links to the roadmap and other information so that as members of the school community you are kept fully informed. As ever there will be media interpretation of the roadmap. This can be both helpful and unhelpful. The only documents you can fully rely on are those issued by the department itself.

A greater explanation of the process is being given to the managers of schools over the coming days. Together with the school community of St Declan's College we will then move to ensure we are in the best possible position for a safe return of staff and students. I know I can rely on your assistance and co-operation over the coming weeks so that we can begin the process of reintegrating all our students and welcoming our new ones back to school.
