Road Safety Week

School Safety - Road Safety

As part of an initiative to improve safety in our lives St Declan's is showcasing some areas which demand increased awareness especially in the coming months with winter approaching. In association with the community Gardaí from Cabra Garda station each student will have the opportunity to register their bicycle and have it marked with a unique identifying number. This number can help reunite lost or stolen bicycles with their owners.

The community Gardaí will be providing the service free of charge over the coming days in conjunction with the Road Safety Team from transition year. The service is available to all students.

They will also be highlighting the importance of:

  • Pedestrians and cyclists making sure they are visible to motorists
  • Wearing the correct safety gear particularly a helmet when cycling
  • Making sure you know and obey the rules of the road
  • Checking that your bicycle is roadworthy and safe to cycle
