TY Grangegorman Remembrance Service

On Thursday 9th November, the boys from TY along with Mr Reid & Mr Lonergan were invited to attend the Remembrance Service held in the Grangegorman Military Cemetery. This graveyard was opened in 1876 as a resting place for service personnel and contains war graves from both World Wars, There is also a memorial there which commemorates those war casualties whose graves lie elsewhere in Ireland and can no longer be maintained.

The service was led by the The Irish Defence Force Chaplain which was attended by the Australian and Polish Ambassadors, the UK Military Attache, Fire Brigade, Prison Service and various Military charities, all who laid wreaths. Two of St. Declan's pupils, Callum and Alvin were invited to lay a wreath of behalf of Irish UN Veterans.

The boys also had a tour of the graves and were spoken to about the history of the area.
