This week our Transitions Year Students visited the Andy Warhol - Three Times Out , exhibition in the Hugh Lane Gallery on Parnell Square.
Ahead of their visit, Ms McGinley gave them some pointers on what to expect from the artist and what to look out for. The expert guides talked the boys through the exhibit, giving the boys some very interesting background on what they were looking at in each room and why it was curated as it was. They were encouraged to think about what they were looking at and to give their own opinion on what the artist was trying to achieve. By the end of the visit, they were left in no doubt about Andy Warhol's skill as both a draughtsman and an artist.
Following their visit of the Andy Warhol exhibit, they had the opportunity to see the Francis Bacon studio. For many of the boys this was their first visit to an art Gallery and for some it certainly won't be their last.
