The Story of your Stuff

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) competition
The Story of your Stuff

The Story of Your Stuff is a competition aimed at second-level students

Let’s get thinking about… stuff!
Once you have picked your everyday object, consider what it is made of, how it’s made, what emissions are associated with it, where it could potentially end up when it is no longer of use or what could become of it when it's recycled properly.
Alternatively, consider the impact an everyday activity has on the environment.
Use the array of information, fact sheets and indicators on Ireland’s Environment, including the EPA state of the environment report itself to help you with your research.
Prizes include €500 for you and your school.
Lots more prizes and a chance to showcase your entry at the finale in April 2022.

Welcome to

Water from source to sea shares science and stories about Ireland’s water catchments, and people’s connections to their water.

For water, a catchment is simply defined as an area of land around a river, lake or other body of water. Living in a catchment that has healthy water can help a community to have a better quality of life.

A healthy water catchment provides high-quality drinking water and supports livelihoods such as agriculture, recreational angling and water sports. It also supports local ecosystems so plants, animals, fish and insects that depend on having healthy water can thrive and flourish.

This website is a collaboration between the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Local Authority Waters Programme.
