ST DECLANS COLLEGE SEMI FINAL VICTORY
The St Declan's U17 football team had a tough match against a strong Kingswood College side in a semi-final of the Metropolitan Junior League Dublin Cup.
First Half
In the first half the Declan’s boys had a quick start with Cillian Crawford finding the back of the net early on but to be shut down quickly by a messy corner goal by the Kingswood midfielder.Following their goal they instantly got back to gain the lead to 2-1 by a ball across the box slotted into the corner.
Second Half
After a firm inspirational talk by the managers Mr O’Driscoll and Ms Byrne, the Declan's lads fought back harder than ever to tie the game 2-2 after a quick thinking free by the skipper. Luke Hughes played a dime over the top to Adam Fennessy who finished a top goal into the bottom corner.
After back-and-forth attack and a few clinical saves by Cillian Campion the lads were playing liquid football to send Kevin Sajan through and goal as he smashes it into the back of the net to go 3-2 up.
Sajan then seals the deal in the dying minutes as he slots his second of the match to confirm Declan's place in the final where they face Coláiste Éanna.
