The Bernard McCormack Bursary is awarded to he student who achieves the best overall results in the leaving certificate. It is named after the first Vice Principal of St Declan’s, Bernard McCormack, who died in 1984. Each year Bernard’s wife, Vera, honours us by returning to the school to present the award. The winner receives the college medal and a financial bursary towards his third level education.
The student in each of the sixth year classes who obtains the best results together with any other student achieving over five hundred points also receives a financial bursary and certificate.
The overall winner for 2018 was David Phelan.
