U17’s progress to Junior North regional Final
After a disappointing loss in the quarter final of the cup the U17 soccer side had their last chance of progressing towards silverware for the season. With St Kevin’s College being knowingly tough opponents, the boys knew it was going to be a major challenge to progress to the final. St Kevin’s took the lead mid first half with a wonder strike placed in to the top corner giving Kian Keegan no chance to stop the shot.
The boys went out in the second half trailing however, within five minutes of the first half Sam Conroy’s first and second goal gave us the lead. The defence, composed of Evan O’Leary, Josh Walsh, Daniel Kocik and Luke Andrade, had their hands full defending an extremely strong spell of St Kevin's attacks.
Luke Hughes, Evan Reel, and Sam Douglas worked excellently as a midfield to ensure the next goal came in our favour. Sam Conroy was put through on goal by Sam Douglas to double our lead. The last 20 minutes were extremely entertaining as St Kevin’s scored another screamer, Sam Conroy puts away a penalty created by substitute Stephen Brennan and finally St Kevin’s got a late goal back ensuring an exciting close to the game. The boys managed to hold onto their lead despite the consistent pressure of the very composed St Kevin’s side.
A massive congratulations to all of the boys involved on the team including all of the substitutes who have been the key to the teams success!
