Transition Year students recently completed a mentorship training program facilitated by Foróige, led by Maartje. The training focused on developing essential skills such as teamwork, communication, and effective mentoring.
Key skills emphasized during the training included teamwork, with students engaging in collaborative activities to foster unity. Communication skills were highlighted, emphasizing active listening and clear expression. The core focus was on mentoring skills, teaching students to provide support to First Year students.
The benefits for First Year students will include having an older student to talk to, receive help with schoolwork and homework, and aid in the settling-in process. The personalized connection established through mentorship promotes a sense of belonging and support within the school community.
This Foróige training equips our Transition Year students to be positive role models and leaders within the school, contributing to a culture of collaboration and mentorship.
