Just before Christmas, our Transition Year (TY) students took part in a heartwarming visit to Chester House, a long-term supported accommodation service run by Dublin Simon Community. In the spirit of giving, our students carefully prepared Christmas hampers for the residents, ensuring they had a special gift to open on Christmas morning. They also presented hampers to the dedicated staff, recognizing their incredible work in supporting the residents throughout the year.
The most meaningful part of the visit, however, was the chance to connect with the residents, listening to their stories and sharing experiences. One student Brandon, even baked homemade brownies the night before, adding an extra touch of warmth to the occasion, though the many students dressed as Santa, elves, snowman and reindeer also brought much merriment!
This experience was both eye-opening and rewarding for our students, reminding them of the importance of community, kindness, and compassion. A huge thank you to Dublin Simon Community and Chester House in particular for welcoming us—we look forward to continuing our relationship in the future!
